Assistant/Associate* Professor, Management (Human Resources) Rhode Island College Spring 2020
The Management and Marketing Department at Rhode Island College invites applications for the full-time, tenure-track, continuing position of Assistant/Associate* Professor, Management.
We are looking for a Human Resources Management specialist. The individual will teach a variety of Human Resources Management courses, and Foundations of Management as needed. Specifically, teach the undergraduate core course in Human Resource Management, and elective courses in the area of Human Resource Management.
The Department of Management and Marketing, which has approximately 550 majors, 10 full-time faculty members, and offers approximately 50 course sections per semester, is housed in the School of Business with the Department of Accounting and CIS, and the Department of Economics and Finance.
Class size is limited to a maximum of 30 students. Typical teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. More than 1,000 students major in School of Business programs.
Required qualifications include: Ph.D. or DBA in management, business administration, or a related field from an accredited institution (ABD considered if doctoral dissertation will be defended by December 31, 2019); experience as instructor or teaching assistant, teaching at least one university-level course.
*For Associate Professor:
Ph.D. or D.B.A. in management, business administration, or a related field, from an accredited institution, with substantive coursework in Human Resource Management.
Evidence of potential for scholarship is important, including demonstrated empirical research skills appropriate for, and a commitment to, developing a research stream in the field of Human Resource Management.
Published articles in peer-reviewed journals in Human Resource Management.
Preferred qualifications include:
Demonstrated ability to teach Introductory Human Resource Management and Human Resource Management elective courses at the undergraduate/graduate level to a diverse group of students.
Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching methods in a classroom with a diverse group of students.
Demonstrated ability to teach one or more advanced courses including, but not limited to: (a) Staffing Organizations, and/or (b) Compensation & Performance Management. (The ability to teach other courses offered by the Management Department may be considered secondarily.)
