The Department of Management and Quantitative Methods (MQM) is seeking applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position in Entrepreneurship at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 16, 2020. The new hire’s primary teaching responsibilities will be courses in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at the undergraduate and graduate levels, along with other Management courses as needs dictate, typically on a 3-3 load on a contract from August 16 to May 15 that is renewable annually until tenure is earned.
The department also offers programs in HRM, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, and International Business. Faculty in the department have published in top tier journals, such as JMS, Org Sci, AMJ, SMJ, AMR, JOM, JAP, ET&P, JBV, JIBS, Technovation, ISR, R&D Management, among others. The Department of Management and Quantitative Methods is home to the George R. and Martha Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (http://business.illinoisstate.edu/means/). Its mission is to provide business and non-business majors with learning experiences outside the classroom that foster their entrepreneurial spirit, encourage them to start new businesses or create new product lines in an existing business, and support them through mentoring, networking, and funding. The Means Center hosts an accelerator program, a business startup competition, and various cross-campus initiatives that involve faculty from multiple disciplines in entrepreneurial pedagogy, student support, and faculty support.

Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Management, or a related field, from an AACSB-accredited university. Senior ABDs may be considered if they are in the late stages of their program. (Note that candidates must have successfully defended their dissertation proposal prior to the campus visit.) Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
