The department of Management, Strategy and Innovation (MSI) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at KU Leuven invites scholars to apply for a full-time research professorship in Strategy. This position is funded by the 'Special Research Fund' (BOFZAP), established by the Flemish Government. We look for motivated candidates with an excellent track record in the domain. Applications will be evaluated by the Research Council of the KU Leuven in a competitive process across academic domains. The research position is for 5 years, and can be extended by another 5 years, during which the successful candidate will have no or very limited teaching responsibilities. Afterwards, the position will be transformed into a regular professorship.
As an excellent, internationally oriented scholar, you conduct research in the field of Strategy, applying theoretical and/or quantitative methods to questions of corporate and business strategy. You have affinity with research applications in the domains of innovation and technology, international business strategy, entrepreneurship, or on-market strategies. You publish in international top journals within the fields of strategy and economics, attract external research funding, develop international research projects, and advise doctoral students. You strive for excellence in research and as such contribute to the reputation of the Faculty of Economics and Business and the MSI department. You have an outspoken interest in fundamental scientific research and also perceive opportunities for valorization of research findings and applied research by connecting to policy makers and business executives. You develop a network of professional contacts that provides value for research.
The research position does not include mandatory teaching activities during the first 5 years of the assignment, with the exception of master thesis supervision. During the second five-year period, one course could be taught in the fields of Strategy, Strategic Management, Innovation and IP Strategy, or International Business.

The successful candidate will be hired in the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or (Full) Professor depending on his/her qualifications and academic experience. Junior researchers will be appointed as assistant professor in tenure track for a period of 5 years, which in case of a positive evaluation is followed by an appointment as a tenured associate professor.
The position requires a clear commitment to the department of MSI at the Leuven campus of the FEB. We offer a dynamic and internationally oriented research environment.

You have earned a PhD in economics/industrial organization, business economics or business administration. Research excellence is demonstrated by a series of publications in top international peer-reviewed journals. Junior applicants (pre-tenure) are expected to show research excellence through at least one excellent publication, a pipeline of promising research projects, and academic references. You can show evidence of strong research project acquisition and management skills and preferably have teaching experience. You are proficient in English. The official administrative language used at KU Leuven is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch (or do not speak it well) at the start of employment, KU Leuven will provide language training to enable you to take part in administrative meetings. Before teaching courses in Dutch, you will be given the opportunity to learn Dutch to the required standard.
