Brac University is looking to appoint outstanding management scholars (in all ranks) to support the launch of its Graduate School of Management in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The school will be pivotal for introducing world-class management education in the South Asian country which is experiencing economic growth at a staggering rate. Faculty members will have a unique opportunity to advance management scholarship and exercise effective pedagogy in a frontier market.
The university was established by BRAC, the world’s largest non-governmental organization that has positively impacted the lives of millions. Recognizing the value of highly relevant and flexible academic programs that can improve the global competitiveness of local industries, the university has set a goal to establish a business school that will foster both high impact research and successful knowledge transfer.
Faculty members will be expected to design highly relevant modules (in traditional disciplines as well as in modern interdisciplinary areas such as data-analytics based marketing, sustainable business, inclusive finance), which will be offered in the flagship MBA program of the school, as well as in quality executive education programs. Faculty members will be expected to work cohesively as members of an active startup community tasked with supporting the launch of the school. At the same time, they will be provided complete support to sustain their individual research productivity in areas of significant impact that will support the mission of the school. Teaching load will be comparable to that of research universities.
While every recruitment will be considered unique and individually assessed, all qualified applicants will have an outstanding profile, and necessarily a terminal (PhD/DBA) degree from an AACSB-accredited business school in a relevant discipline. Successful candidates will demonstrate capacity for research leading to publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and remain active in scholarship, possess an unwavering commitment to teaching excellence, and be willing to provide service to support the school at its incipient stage. The school particularly welcomes applications from scholars who have the capacity to establish high-impact research programs, preferably interdisciplinary, that complement the university’s mission, such as in sustainable business, social enterprises, or entrepreneurship for resilience. Appointments may be contractual, tenure-track, or with tenure.
