UHV’s School of Business Administration invites applications for a tenure-track opening in Healthcare Management at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2020. Our AACSB International and SACSDOC accredited programs include a Bachelor of Business Administration with several concentrations including Healthcare Administration, and two graduate programs, the Strategic MBA and the Global MBA. Undergraduate enrollment is over 1100 students, and combined graduate enrollments total nearly 700.
Required qualifications: The position requires an earned doctorate in Management, Public Health, Public Administration or a related field with expertise and research interests in Healthcare Management and the ability to conduct research commensurate with the expectations of an AACSB accredited business school; ABDs with confirmed completion within the next year will be considered. Applicants must demonstrate strong potential for research and teaching effectiveness as well as a commitment to community engagement and providing our students with practical, real world educational experiences.
Position Summary: The position is based in Victoria, Texas and the successful candidate will be prepared to be fully engaged in the Victoria community. The appointment is a nine month, tenure track position with the following responsibilities: teach 9 hours per semester of undergraduate and graduate level management courses, and especially healthcare management courses (such as Quality Assessment for Patient Care and Healthcare Management) via online, interactive TV, and face to face; pursue high quality scholarly activity; participate in course and program development; perform university and professional service; engage with the local business community to provide our students with real world experiential learning opportunities and enhance their career development; work cooperatively with diverse groups; work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population (UHV is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution and has substantial enrollments from minority populations); and perform other duties as assigned by the dean and the chair; Additional opportunities for summer teaching and research/teaching grants may be available. Because of our outreach mission to serve the larger Texas Gulf Coast area, the position also will require online teaching and travel to our UHV Katy and possibly other offsite locations. A Closer Look at UHV
The University of Houston-Victoria is located in Victoria, Texas, the commerce and entertainment center of the Texas Coastal Bend region. Pioneer charm and high-tech industry mingle in the city of 62,000 inhabitants near the Gulf of Mexico on a popular coastal route between Houston and Mexico. Victoria is within a two-hour drive from Houston, Austin, Corpus Christi and San Antonio. As the third-oldest chartered city in Texas, Victoria has many beautiful, historic Victorian structures and homes. The University of Houston-Victoria shares a campus with the Victoria College. The UHV campus includes the University Center, completed in spring 2000, which contains classrooms, offices, and media and computer labs, and University West, which houses classrooms and faculty and administrative offices. In 2004, a 14,000-square-foot expansion to the University West building was completed. The Jaguar Hall and Jaguar Court residence halls for underclassmen are a short, 10-minute walk to the main campus.
In the 1960s, the citizens of the Victoria area realized... that greater opportunities were needed in higher education. No institution within a hundred-mile radius offered baccalaureate and master’s degrees. Many junior college students and graduates in the region wanted to continue studying beyond an associate degree, and a growing number of people who had bachelor’s degrees were anxious to pursue master’s degrees. To meet those needs, UHV opened in 1973.
UHV is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
