Simon Fraser University Metro Vancouver, British Columbia The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia seeks outstanding candidates for one tenure-track position in Business & Society / Sustainability, beginning July 1, 2021 (Rank Assistant Professor). Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a passion for high-quality engaged research and have demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the area of Business & Society / Sustainability. Applicants should have a PhD degree in management or a related field with high research alignment (although ABD near completion will be considered). Candidates working in all areas of business and society are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will help Beedie deliver on its commitment to prepare graduates to make responsible decisions and contribute to regenerative and reconciled economies by considering the systemic impacts of their decisions now and in the future. Thus, research strengths aligned with these commitments will be prioritized. Candidates should have the ability—or, for junior candidates, the ambition—to make a positive impact on society through their research. Additionally, they will demonstrate justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion as foundational elements of their work and lives. The successful candidate will adopt a broad, systemic view of sustainability, which includes the social, environmental, and economic impacts of all kinds of businesses on and in society. Industry, governance, community and/or other practical experience is considered an asset. Our ideal candidate will also value a range of ontologies including Indigenous principles of wellbeing and will be instrumental in supporting our institutional commitments to decolonization and reconciliation. As a result, we encourage applications from individuals who identify as members of Indigenous populations. Duties The successful candidate will teach in courses in Beedie’s Corporate Environmental and Social Sustainability Certificate in the undergraduate program such as Management of Sustainability, Sustainable Operations, and Sustainable Innovation as well as teaching sustainability courses in our MBA programs. In addition, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to Beedie’s research excellence and to the school’s collaborative academic community through service, which may include acting as a faculty sponsor for our NetImpact chapter and/or engaging with RADIUS, SFU’s nationally-recognized social innovation hub. The successful candidate will also have the option of joining Beedie’s Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability.
