Instructor – Engineering Entrepreneurship, Schulich School of Engineering

The Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Instructor in the area of Engineering Entrepreneurship. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2021 or mutually agreed upon date. This position will align with, enhance, and support the Schulich School of Engineering’s contributions to the booming technology innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Alberta and Canada. The Instructor in Engineering Entrepreneurship will provide entrepreneurial leadership within the Schulich School of Engineering across all disciplines by creating, teaching, and leading courses and co-curricular activities, and by building partnerships in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Alberta and beyond. This position is required to teach five courses per year. The expectations are that the right candidate will lead courses and activities about innovation and entrepreneurship in an engineering framework to foster student engagement in entrepreneurial activities across the School. Applicants must have a demonstrated background and ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Engineering Entrepreneurship, as well as fundamental courses in one engineering discipline (Civil, Chemical and Petroleum, Electrical, Software, Geomatics, or Mechanical and Manufacturing), which will serve as their home department. Instructors are expected to develop scholarship in engineering entrepreneurship or innovation education. Finally, instructors are expected to provide service in support of the home Department, School, University and Profession. To be eligible for consideration, candidates must hold an undergraduate degree in Engineering. In addition, applicants should have a Master’s or Doctorate degree, in Engineering, Science, Business, Entrepreneurship, Education, or other related discipline. All candidates must be eligible for registration as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
