About Eckerd College
An Eckerd College experience is not about learning a rigid set of facts. As one of The Princeton Review's Best 386 Colleges (2021), a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and one of 40 schools featured in the book Colleges That Change Lives, Eckerd makes it clear that its first priority is to teach students how to learn.
Eckerd, a coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences, the only private national liberal arts college in Florida, invites students to ThinkOutside. Located on 188 acres of waterfront property in St. Petersburg, we take advantage of our spectacular mile of campus waterfront along Florida's Gulf Coast for outdoor laboratories in biology, marine science and environmental studies as well as for an impressive array of intramural, club and intercollegiate sports and water recreation. Offerings in the arts and humanities inspire creativity and foster critical thinking and self-awareness. Every year (when not in a pandemic), a significant number of our 1,900+ students travel with their faculty leaders outside the U.S. to some 40 countries for research and cultural learning, including our own dedicated study center in London. And we venture together in the Eckerd experience ...to think outside the conventional questions, methods and solutions, seeking to build a better world.
In addition, Eckerd's Leadership Development Institute for executives, Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Writers in Paradise conference, and Summer Science Splash Camp program identify the College as a national leader of innovative programs in continuing education and lifelong learning.
The best education is one that prepares you for the how, as well as the what, an education that teaches you to ThinkOutside.
