The Department of Management and Insurance & Risk Management (MGTI) of the Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB), at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) invites applicants for a tenure track position in Management with a focus in human resource management, at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in August 2022.
The selected candidate will have teaching responsibilities including but not limited to combinations of the following courses at the undergraduate level – MGT 3302 (Human Resource Management), MGT 3307 (Diversity and Inclusion in Organizations), MGT 3312 (Training and Development), MGT 4342 (Strategic Human Resource Management), or graduate-level – MBA 6330 (Legal Environment of Human Resource Management), or MBA 6338 (Strategic Human Resource Management). Given the needs of MDCOB students, successful candidates must be willing to teach a variety of days, times, and modalities (i.e., face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats). The position requires someone who is conscientious, and the candidate should desire to work in an innovative department. We seek a collaborator who is both intelligent and hard working. Reliability is valued. Faculty are expected to teach courses offered at the primary campus located in downtown Houston, as well as off-campus locations located in suburban, northwest Houston.

The MDCOB – home of the largest MBA program in Texas – is accredited by AACSB and enrolls 2,500+ undergraduate and more than 1,100 graduate students. The MGTI Department houses 20 faculty members, 14 of whom are tenure track. Currently, the department offers majors in Management as well as Insurance and Risk Management, in addition to minors in Human Resource Management, Management, and Operations Management.

Candidates for the position should have a terminal degree in Management or related field with a focus in HRM and/or OB (ABDs will be considered).
