The Management Department within the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at University of North Texas invites scholars with a promising record of research to apply for Associate or Full Professor of Management of Entrepreneurship, with a term beginning Fall 2022.
We are seeking candidates with a primary research interest area in entrepreneurship. The candidate is expected to demonstrate an ability to publish in top management journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management, and Journal of Management Studies. The candidate is expected to mentor our entrepreneurially minded PhD students and assistant professors. In addition, the candidate is expected to serve as Academic Director of the Murphy Center for Entrepreneurship. The candidate is expected to be a collegial team member of a growing entrepreneurship and strategy group that seeks to develop an international reputation for quality research, curriculum, co-curricular activities, and engagement with the DFW entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The candidate should have a PhD from an accredited university and should either (1) have earned tenure at their current institution or (2) warrant a successful tenure decision at an R1 university. The primary focus of the selected individual's research interest would fall within entrepreneurship as broadly defined, with possible secondary focus in related fields such as strategic or innovation management. The candidate should be an enthusiastic and motivated scholar who will work closely with our constituencies and help their colleagues build an increasingly successful and recognized entrepreneurship program.
Salary, benefits, and teaching load are competitive for a major research focused university. Responsibilities include quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and providing service to the university and the profession.
Our management department is currently home to 19 tenured and tenure track professors including 7 primarily focused on entrepreneurship and strategy (Anat BarNir, Jeff Chandler, Derrick D’Souza, Chris Penney, Rhonda Reger, Manjula Salimath, and Jeremy Short). We support a doctoral concentration and undergraduate major in entrepreneurship and plan to expand our graduate entrepreneurship offerings as we continue hiring faculty to support the demand for our courses. Roughly half of our 11 doctoral students major in entrepreneurship or strategy, with the remaining choosing micro topics in HR and OB. Our doctoral program and our faculty are growing in numbers and reputation. We are also the academic home for a prestigious sport entertainment management program including an MBA program co-branded with the most valuable sports franchise in the world, the Dallas Cowboys.

Minimum Qualifications: • A doctorate in Business or a related field from an AACSB accredited institution • A nationally recognized research record in entrepreneurship • Evidence of commitment to research / clear pipeline for continued excellence in research • Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education • Ability and willingness to serve as the academic director of the Murphy Center
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience mentoring doctoral students and junior faculty • Multiple recent publications in FT50 journals • Experience in grant writing or funded research • Prior experience as a research or academic director of a university-based entrepreneurship center
