The Department of Management in the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri (MU) invites applicants to apply for a tenured faculty position (rank of associate professor or above) in Strategic Management (including Innovaton & Entrepreneurship). The successful candidate will demonstrate a high quality, active research record in entrepreneurship or strategic management broadly defined. This is not a remote work position.
A Ph.D. in business administration from an AACSB accredited business school with a specialty or emphasis in entrepreneurship/strategy.
Candidates will be evaluated on:
A demonstrated research track record of publications commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor at an AACSB-accredited business school, and success guiding doctoral student dissertations. Collaborative work with faculty and doctoral students is expected; a record of excellence in doctoral level activities (teaching and research); and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Key skills sought include expertise in leading edge strategic management research, proven leadership and enagement in the profession, and collegiality in service roles. We desire candidates who will help achieve our goal to become a top-20 management department in terms of research excellence and instructional program innovation with a focus on mentoring doctoral students and publishing in top-tier, “A” level journals.

The Management Department consists of three research-oriented faculty groups: Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship; People & Organizations (OB/HR); and Supply Chain Management, Information Systems & Analytics. We are building a revitalized department based on reimagining what business and business education should be to serve constituents into the future. Our faculty in strategy -- Joel Andrus, James Bort, Stephen Downing, Jung-Hoon Han, Rick Johnson, Doug Moesel, and Xinran (Joyce) Wang -- contribute significant scholarly research and innovative instructional programs addressing cutting edge organizations, new forms of organizing, flexible and nimble organizations, organizations in the information age, creativity, and the idea economy. Faculty in the strategy group have published in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Annals, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management and other prestigious journals. According to the 2020 TAMUGA research productivity rankings, we are 29th out of 150 US public business schools, and climbing.
The Trulaske College of Business consists of about 65 full-time faculty members who serve approximately 5,000 undergraduates, over 300 master’s students, and 35 doctoral students. The Department of Management currently consists of 14 tenured and tenure-track faculty members and 14 full-time teaching faculty who share a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching.
