In recent years, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has cemented its position as a dedicated entrepreneurial university and continuously aims to provide the means to promote entrepreneurship and innovation among students and faculties by developing their entrepreneurial capabilities to solve the challenges facing our society. Therefore, DTU puts a premium on research, education, and learning in this respect by investing in a new Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. The position will be hosted by DTU Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship (DTU ENT) at DTU.
The hosting institution will provide the best conditions to support the career development of the tenure track position, including a mentor, state-of-the-art research infrastructure, research funding, pedagogic training, and international networks. Candidates for this position should expect to play an important role in research and education within the entrepreneurial eco-system at DTU.
Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship (DTU Entrepreneurship) DTU Entrepreneurship is a newly established centre aiming to be a world-renowned centre of excellence for building the entrepreneurial and technology innovation capabilities of students, researchers, and organizations. The centre currently employs approximately 30 people including eight permanent faculty and eight PhD students.
Academic members of the centre publish in the top journals in entrepreneurship and innovation management and conduct research in the fields of start-up creation and success, entrepreneurial teams, entrepreneurship and health, corporate entrepreneurship, IP and technology transfer, digital business model innovations, sustainability, and entrepreneurship didactics. Digitalization, sustainability, and didactics are the growing areas of interest within the group. Furthermore, the group is characterized by a strong dedication to the implications of its research for delivering excellent entrepreneurship education.
The centre offers a suite of BSc, MSc, and PhD courses specializing in entrepreneurship and innovation. The centre also hosts a new two-year interdisciplinary postgraduate programme on Technology Entrepreneurship to commence September 2020. We also take pride in supervising entrepreneurship theses and project courses for students across DTU as a means to spur an entrepreneurial mind-set and culture. DTU Entrepreneurship has, in addition to the research and teaching activities, an ‘Impact Lab’ focused on experimenting and translating research knowledge into practice and enhance industrial collaboration.
Research fields We welcome candidates from various relevant research backgrounds to apply for the tenure track position with DTU ENT. Background and experience in research and education in the following fields will be considered an advantage:

In addition, we envision the ideal candidate to have didactical knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship education, and/or real-life experience in entrepreneurship and innovation. In this respect, the candidate should be able to balance the objectives of research between scientific rigor and practical relevance in order to produce applicable knowledge on entrepreneurship and innovation.
Responsibilities and tasks The tenure track assistant professor is expected to perform research and education in some of the areas outlined above. This includes developing new research and alliances, developing research applications, and accelerating the academic output in general. As general responsibilities, you will be expected to:
conduct and initiate rigorous and impactful research at an international level and build a track record of research excellence and relevance
teach in several courses related to entrepreneurship and innovation at the BSc and MSc levels
provide supervision to students and engage in the mentoring of early-career researchers
establish research networks nationally and internationally, recognized at an international level
develop research proposals in close collaboration with relevant internal and external partners of the University in pursuit of suitable national and international funding opportunities
Qualifications We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about research and education in entrepreneurship as a means to complement the strong technical skills of our graduates with skills of the future as encompassed in their entrepreneurial capabilities. We are therefore looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
a PhD degree in entrepreneurship and innovation, or other relevant fields
the potential for documented academic production at an international level with applied impact in the field and documented initiatives for independent and original project ideas
ability to adequately outline his/her research visions and to prepare a coherent vision for his/her research covering the full tenure track period
track record of teaching at various levels of university education
experience in supervising students on the BSc and MSc levels
experience in applying for research grants and/or participate in granted research projects
Assessment In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to:
Experience and quality of entrepreneurship teaching
Research experience and output
Documented innovation activities, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
Internal and external collaboration
Tenure Track at DTU
DTU offers talented researchers and educators from around the world attractive career perspectives via the DTU Tenure Track Programme. Highly qualified candidates are appointed as Assistant Professors for a period of up to six years with the prospect of performance-based advancement to a tenured Associate Professorship.
As part of the tenure track position, the candidate receives:

As part of the DTU Tenure Track Programme, the University carries out a mid-way evaluation to review the progress of the tenure track candidate, according to the same criteria used in the final tenure review. If the final review is positive, the candidate will be offered a tenured position as Associate Professor at DTU
Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
