The Department of Management and Leadership at Bradley University (https://bradley.edu/academic/departments/ml/) seeks applications for a full-time, tenured position as department chair and professor, to begin August 1, 2023. Applicants must have a doctorate in Strategic Management or a related discipline, a record of successful teaching and research, and an academic record commensurate with the rank of senior associate or full professor. We seek applicants with evidence of strong leadership and interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate with others, and a commitment to shared governance. Experience with developing and delivering online programs is a preferred qualification.
Responsibilities:
The chair reports to the Dean of the Foster College of Business and leads the department to meet departmental, college and university strategic priorities in collaboration with departmental faculty and other college chairs by proactively managing departmental personnel and operations. The chair fosters a collegial environment and supports diverse research, teaching and service contributions within the department. It is expected that the chair will collaborate with colleagues within the college, the dean, and others across campus on strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
Manages the department’s financial resources, staffing and course offerings in consultation with college leadership team;
Leads periodic evaluation and review of the curriculum to assure that coursework meets modern standards and employer needs;
Supports excellence in teaching, research and service by providing thoughtful feedback to faculty through annual reviews, tenure and promotion, and other evaluative processes;
Leads efforts to develop revenue-generating programs and partnerships that enhance student learning, including working with the Engineering college on convergence initiatives;
Supports recruitment and retention efforts in partnership with college and university partners;
Identifies potential corporate and alumni donors and works with the Dean and College
Development officer to secure external resources for the department;
Teach courses in the chair’s area of expertise; and
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Strategic Management or related field;
Applicants must have an understanding of, and a commitment to, creating an inclusive environment and the ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff;
Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
A record of successful leadership.
